This fun and interactive class is designed to introduce children to the world of fermentation. In this hands-on workshop, kids will learn how to transform simple cabbage into delicious, tangy sauerkraut. They will discover the science behind fermentation, the importance of probiotics, and how easy and fun it can be to make healthy snacks. On their farm, Krystal and her husband share a symbiotic partnership: he cultivates the crops, and she handles their preservation. Her expertise spans water bath canning, pressure canning, fermentation, and freeze drying, all aimed at stocking our shelves with nutrient-dense, organically grown foods. Mastering the art of food preservation is a crucial skill for everyone! At the end of the class, each child will take home a jar of Sauerkraut.
