Savory Pot Pies & Mini Apple Pies

Roll up your sleeves and become a pie maker!
In this hands-on cooking class, our young chefs will learn that pies aren’t just for dessert. Each child will make two individual pies from scratch—a savory chicken pot pie and a sweet mini apple pie. We’ll start by learning the basics of working with pie pastry, then prepare a simple savory filling filled with tender chicken and vegetables in a creamy sauce. Each child will roll out pastry, fill their own pie, add a top crust, and bake it. Then we’ll switch to dessert and make a mini apple pie, combining fresh apples with cinnamon and a touch of sweetness before topping it with pastry and baking it until golden brown. Along the way, we’ll learn some of the fundamentals of good pie making: keeping pastry cold, rolling dough evenly, measuring ingredients, seasoning a filling, sealing a crust, and recognizing when a pie is ready for the oven.
