PICKLING SUMMER BOUNTY w/ ELLEN HARBIN-DABBS, SEPTEMBER 14TH, 10:00 AM, $30 PER PERSON

$30.00

Oh no. Not again. Do you have too many cucumbers and don’t know what to do with them? Too many peppers? Let’s do some pickling. Pickling is a way to preserve the harvest using vinegar and spices. We will be learning to make bread n butter pickles, chow chow, and pickled onions. You will need 3 pint canning jars, lids and rings to take your goodies home. We will process these items in the canners before they go home to make them shelf stable.

Ellen Harbin-Dabbs is a Tennessee native.  Growing up in the Tennessee State Park system, she learned many traditional skills that have been forgotten over time.  She was taught ways of the hearth by her mother and grandmother, and the ways of the wild by her father who was an outdoor instructor and park ranger.  Her stories and insights will keep your entertained as she passes along the knowledge of the “old ways”.

This class is part of our new Home Spun series, designed to get us back in touch with our hand-made heritage.
